# Analyze Swift with the evidence in view.

Find semantic issues, understand the reasoning, and see where the analysis stops. Swift Analyzer complements SwiftLint and SwiftFormat with analysis of behavior across declarations and calls.

## Start with a small, real example

[Run your first analysis](https://docs.swift-analyzer.com/get-started/first-analysis/) to compare two findings, an edited control, and an unsupported input. The example includes the source, commands, observed outcomes, and an explanation of incomplete coverage.

Pre-prod documentation · Experimental CLI · Restricted access: an owner-provided checkout is required. There is no public binary or source download yet. [Check installation requirements](https://docs.swift-analyzer.com/get-started/installation/) before starting.

## Choose your next step

- [Analyze a SwiftPM project](https://docs.swift-analyzer.com/guides/swiftpm/): select a small product and authorize its build.
- [Understand results](https://docs.swift-analyzer.com/guides/results/): distinguish findings, unknown observations, and checks that did not run.
- [Explore the rule catalog](https://docs.swift-analyzer.com/catalog/): see what source-scan selects and what remains unavailable.
- [Read the foundations](https://docs.swift-analyzer.com/concepts/foundations/): understand the methods, assumptions, and limits of the evidence.

## Know the current boundary

The documented source-scan workflow selects 9 conditions by default, with 2 additional stdio conditions available by explicit opt-in. The remaining 130 catalog conditions are unavailable in this workflow. A separate experimental source preview recognizes 13 local patterns; it is a different workflow.

The CLI analyzes locally. Package evaluation, dependency retrieval and compilation require explicit authorization. There is no hosted analysis service, automatic fix, or default blocking CI policy. The tutorial is qualified for Apple Swift 6.3.3 on macOS arm64. [Current capabilities and limitations](https://docs.swift-analyzer.com/project/status/) gives the full boundary.
